Customs Consulting

We help you manage risks proactively with reasoned opinions on customs legislation, post-clearance audits, settlement and appeal procedures.

Overview

In international trade, most costs and risks are determined by decisions made before a transaction takes place. We provide well-reasoned, practical opinions grounded in legislation on issues such as Incoterms, customs value elements, origin strategy and choice of customs procedure. As customs brokers, we provide this consulting service from our head office in Kayseri and our branch and liaison offices.

Compliance and risk analysis

The customs administration can carry out post-clearance controls and audits even after declarations have been accepted, within the time limits set by law. We review your past transactions in terms of HS code, customs value, origin and use of customs procedures to identify potential risks early and assess corrective options.

In customs valuation reviews, we focus in particular on elements that must be added to customs value, such as royalties and license fees, pricing between related parties and post-sale payments — among the most common causes of additional assessments in post-clearance audits.

Settlement and appeal procedures

When you face an additional assessment or a penalty decision, the right roadmap depends on the type of decision and its grounds. The legislation provides for an administrative appeal to the higher customs authority against customs decisions and, in certain cases, a settlement procedure; the deadlines for these routes are short and run from the date of notification.

We examine the grounds of the decision, the supporting documents and similar precedents, and help you prepare your appeal or settlement application. For matters that cannot be resolved at the administrative stage and need to go to court, we prepare the technical file in coordination with your lawyer.

Complementary services through our sister companies

Through our sister companies, we offer the companies whose customs formalities we handle consulting and competitive prices in international logistics, domestic transport, general bonded warehousing, non-bonded storage, foreign trade, insurance and IT. Frequently asked questions

I received an additional assessment or penalty decision from customs. What should I do?

First, note the date of notification: the legal deadline for an appeal is short — as a rule, 15 days from notification. If you share the decision and supporting documents with us without delay, we can assess the appeal or settlement options together.

What is the difference between settlement and an appeal?

An appeal asks the higher customs authority to cancel or correct a decision on the grounds that it does not comply with the legislation. Settlement, on the other hand, means reaching an agreement with the administration on duties and penalties in certain cases. Which route is appropriate depends on the type of decision and the specifics of the file.

Is customs consulting only for large companies?

No. Businesses of every size — from first-time importers or exporters to companies trading internationally on a regular basis — can use consulting to anticipate costs and risks. We can tailor the scope to your needs, from a one-off opinion to ongoing advisory support.
